A second late-night post, because this columnist at the Washington Times just doesn’t get it. You may have seen this article linked on Twitter, but if you haven’t, I advise you to take a moment to get worked up by reading it. Following is my response, which I emailed directly […]
conferences
What I consider comfortable shoes for a conference, for Amy, who asks: I have a quick question for you regarding writing conferences, specifically the [redacted]. As an industry insider, would you recommend this conference for a first time novelist who is searching for an agent? I’ve read mixed reviews online […]
Doing anything Saturday, October 10th? If you’re free, and happen to be in the Colorado area, you can come Ask Daphne your questions live and in person at the Douglas County Libraries Writers Conference, “An entire day of workshops, networking and activities for writers. Gain valuable tips and insight from […]
I’m setting this up to post automatically, as I’m taking the day off today (Friday) to get out and see some more of this beautiful state. If I’m lucky, and we don’t hit the Great Sand Dunes National Park at its hottest, there may even be some hiking. But Barb […]
I'm answering all sorts of great questions on the teenlitauthors Yahoo group this week, but if you truly can't get enough of Ask Daphne!, and if you live in the Denver area, you can see me -- live and in person! -- at a Northern Colorado Writers workshop on Saturday, October 4th in Loveland, CO.
Cute shoes with bows to remind you of something for Jeanne, who writes, "A month ago an agent requested my manuscript. I'll be meeting with this same agent for a pitch session at a writer's conference this weekend. Should I send the agent an email checking up on the status of my manuscript and mention the up coming meeting?"
I left my heart... In San Francisco, of course. Or, ok, maybe not my heart, but certainly a bit of skin off my toe as my sweet little espadrilles rubbed my foot raw as I climbed up and down a few hills today. I'm in town for the San Francisco South chapter of the SCBWI's Agent's Day, and will be speaking tomorrow with a number of my esteemed colleagues.
I'm running around like a crazy Daphne this morning, trying to get stuff done before my flight to NYC. Contracts to mail, manuscripts to upload to my Kindle, emails to answer, and blogs to post! So please forgive this bare bones list of links, and I promise I'll be better soon.
I'm off on Wednesday to Los Angeles for BEA and the Pitch Slam Session at the Writer's Digest Books Writers Conference. If you won't be in LA to pitch me, or just say hi, here's a few more upcoming events where I'll be speaking or meeting with authors. Hope to see you at one of them! And if you're part of an organization that would like to speak with me about attending a conference or workshop, please email me at events@ktliterary.com.
