R.J. is a gay, Cuban-American writer and Yale graduate living between Miami and New York City. His perennial interest in religion and politics first flourished during his undergrad years, while working at the Yale Chaplain’s Office. His adult debut novel AN INNOCENT FASHION (Harper Perennial) was nominated for the Edmund White Award for LGBT Debut Fiction and two International Latino Book Awards; he has been featured in publications including Vanity Fair and The Paris Review.
R.J. now writes gorgeous, thought-provoking, big contemporary young adult novels that challenge religion with humor and poignancy.
