Please help me welcome new client, Judith Valdes Breidenstine! I discovered Judith and her work during the #LatinxPitch event in October and fell in love with her illustrations and her beautiful storytelling. Her picture book, CELEBRATING PERRO, is THE ROUGH PATCH meets A GIFT FOR ABUELITA, an #ownvoices story that explores how one little boy moves through the loss of his beloved dog by embracing his family’s Day of The Dead traditions in his own special way. Told with honesty, hope, and heart, it’s the perfect story for any child coping with loss, and for those who celebrate or want to learn more about this (often misunderstood and misrepresented) Mexican tradition.
Judith is a Mexican-American writer and illustrator and holds degrees in Illustration (BFA), Business Administration (BA), and International Affairs (MA). Her work is made up of the rich tapestry of her multicultural heritage. She’s lived in five countries across three continents and is an SCBWI member, a Children’s Book Academy graduate, and a student at the Institute of Children’s Literature.
