I was super excited to fly last week to NYC for the launch events for My True Love Gave to Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins. Nine of the twelve authors were in town to help celebrate the book, and at two events — at the Barnes & Noble in Tribeca, and at McNally Jackson in Soho — each author read a little from their story, spoke about their favorite holiday movies or traditions, dished on their inspiration, and even sang a few carols.

I also had a chance to chat with Stephanie’s US and UK editors, and grab another copy of the pinkalicious UK edition, as well as get my US editions signed by all the authors for my giveaway.
And while I enjoyed NYC with Stephanie and the amazing company of authors she brought together, we got the wonderful news of a great review in the New York Times Book Review, which read, in part:
In this new collection of holiday-themed tales of young love, 12 popular Y.A. authors skillfully demonstrate its breadth of styles and differing depths. Both genre and contemporary fiction are represented, making the slightly uneven terrain fascinating. Winter solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s Eve serve as backdrops, but relationships are central, reminding readers that while the season can be painful, it’s also a time of hope.
The Washington Post also reviewed the collection, and said:
Holiday anthologies are often as enticing as a re-gifted fruitcake — slickly packaged and sticky sweet — but “My True Love Gave to Me” is a plummy treat. Compiled by Stephanie Perkins, author of “Anna and the French Kiss,” it will appeal not just to teens but to the increasing number of adult readers helping to keep YA fiction on the bestseller lists.
Hooray!
Edited to add: PW also had some nice coverage of the events!
