As part of my continuing mission to be a better blogger, I wanted to make a note of a few upcoming events where you can find me. In addition, if you’d like to invite me to speak at your conference, workshop, or seminar, please send me an email!
First up, later this month I’ll be at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Seattle, Washington (January 25th-29th). I’ll mostly be meeting with editors and other agents, but I also love to use this time to sit in on the librarian discussions for the ALA book lists, like the Best Fiction for Young Adults (especially the Teen Feedback session!), Popular Paperbacks, and Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers. This year, I have a few books already nominated, including Something Like Normal by Trish Doller (BFYA & Quick Picks), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (Amazing Audiobooks), The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson (Popular Paperbacks), Band Geek Love by Josie Bloss (Popular Paperbacks), and Pink by Lili Wilkinson (Popular Paperbacks). And of course, I can’t wait for the announcement of the awards for the Newbery, Caldecott, and Printz!
February is pretty quiet for me — nothing planned yet, at least — and then on March 2nd, I’ll be part of my local Rocky Mountain chapter of the SCBWI’s Agent Day. The full details will be here when they’re available. On March 10th, I’ll be speaking with the Parker Writers Group, a local group of writers and readers here in Colorado. Details here.
Later that month, I’m heading to NYC for a few days of editor meetings, followed by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, Italy. This is hands down one of my favorite publishing events to attend. Italy in the spring! Wine! Cheese! Pasta! Books! It’s basically like the best week ever.
Then, in April, I’ll be at the Pike’s Peak Writers Conference, just down the road from me in Colorado Springs. They’re got a great list of faculty coming in too — if you’re local and interested in writing, I highly recommend this con.
Again, I’ve got some extra time in there, so if you’re looking for speakers, let me know! And of course, I’ve got more coming up later in the year, including BEA and LeakyCon. Hooray!
