In honor of everyone’s favorite day to dress up and be someone other than yourself, I want to salute some great book-related costumes! First of all, I have to share the cutest little peddler, my friend Jay & Laura’s boy Henry, from Caps for Sale:
And some publishing folk really get into the holiday — like
@melwriting, who
dressed as Rory from
Maureen Johnson‘s
The Name of the Star! And the Little Brown crew always goes whole hog. Check out
these characters from
Laini Taylor‘s
Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I haven’t seen anyone dressed as Lola yet, from
Lola and The Boy Next Door by
Stephanie Perkins, but maybe there’s just too many options! I’d love to see a Marie Antoinette in combat boots, though!
And of course, my little contribution to the holiday:
What are you cooking up for the holiday? Any book-related costumes? Or have you seen any great ones on the interwebs? Please share your booty!

So many awesome costumes! (and oh my goodness, Beau has the brightest eyes!)
So cute! My mom is an elementary school teacher and every year she dresses up as Thing 1 (with her friend as Thing 2) for Dr. Suess's birthday. No offense to Mom, but I think you guys have her beat…
I did a wrap-up of literary Halloween costumes on my blog last week: http://bloggingforya.blogspot.com/2011/10/literar…
It is crazy the creativity (or lack thereof…) some people have! My favorite is a toss-up between the "Sexy Scrabble Board" and "Scout as HAM from To Kill a Mockingbird"
Those are some AWESOME costumes!
It's not very original, but my son dressed up as Harry Potter. 🙂
Special celebrity contribution by Neil Patrick Harris and family: http://img.ly/a0XT So cute!
