I’m thrilled to share some good news to get this holiday break off to an excellent start! First, let’s announce the winners of our contests, shall we? First up, Anne C. wins a kt literary tote bag for her picture with her copy of Anna and the French Kiss. Anne, email me your mailing address, and I’ll get your bag in the mail to you after the new year! And Becka (Fie Eoin) wins a galley of Small Persons With Wings for her imaginary pony friend — with wings! Becka, send me your address via email, please!
And now, more good news! As you may recall, back in August I participated in the online writers conference WriteOnCon, contributing a presentation on query don’ts and taking part in an online pitch session via live chat. Well, I’m thrilled to announce that I just signed a new client who “attended” WriteOnCon, and I look forward to shopping her MG novel next year. Everyone, please welcome Rebecca Petruck to the kt literary stable of authors! You can learn more about Rebecca on my clients page. As for her novel, it’s exactly the kind of “boy book” I’ve been asking for and looking for all year.
I’ll have even more good news to share in January, of five new deals for new books I recently closed. It’s been a very happy holiday season, indeed!
And stay tuned on Friday for a final About My Query for the year — yes, on Christmas Eve!

Welcome, Rebecca from a fellow NC'ian and Wilmingtonian! ๐
I have one question: on your clients page, is the publication date for Rebecca's novel supposed to be 2011? I figured it was a typo ๐ But welcome, and can't wait to hear your more good news!
Welcome, Rebecca!
Congrats to Rebecca on being signed! And Yay for SPWW! I'm VERY excited to read it! ๐
Welcome,Rebecca–can't wait for your book!
So cool!!! Love stories like that
Welcome to kt lit, Rebecca! You'll like it here!
Am feeling absurdly pleased with myself for having sent email to Kate all those months ago going, "Have you heard of this WriteOnCon thing? Because it totally sounds like you."
Does this mean I get a kickback? Shower of sparkles? Something?
That's a lot of good news! Not to mention the baby on the way … it's exactly the kind of news we all need at this time of the year.
AHH! This makes me SO happy! Congratulations to you BOTH!!!
Very cool all around!
Wow, what a small world. Since I love all things WriteOnCon related, I followed the link to this article from a WriteOnCon tweet. First off I realized I knew Becka (the winner of the galley) from the title of her novel in parenthesis because she’s in my NaNo writing group. Then I kept reading and recognized Rebecca’s name because I met her at this year’s SCBWI Carolinas conference, and since she’s the editor of the Pen & Palette, she just edited an article I wrote. Congrats to both Becka and Rebecca!! And to Anne too even though I don’t know you. ๐
HURRAH!!! Congratulations, Kate and Rebecca! What wonderful news to end the year. And how cool for it to be another Carolina girl!
(I love Anne's picture with the dogs! Thank you, Anne!!)
Yay! That's a lot of good news! Congratulations!!!
Thanks, everyone! 2010 is definitely ending on a high note. I hope your holiday is as full of good things as mine already has been.
Congrats to all, and Happy Holidays!! WriteOnCon is full of awesome. Glad to hear this story.
So glad you've joined team KT Literary Rebecca! Here's to a great 2011!
WriteOnCon.com is a great site. I've recently learned about it and want to participate in the next conference.
Great news, Kate, Rebecca!
Congratulations Rebecca! It's great to have you!
Outstanding story it is definitely. My mother has been waiting for this tips.
