Wow — you guys kept me reading all day! I’m thrilled so many of you took up the Writing Prompt challenge, but in the end, I’m afraid there can be only one winner. The winning hook:
Levi’s got the charm, the looks and the right amount of naughty to get Jess into illegal sorts of trouble when the heat is sweltering by the grill-side.
Congrats to ChristaCarol, whose full piece is on her blog here. ChristaCarol, send me an email at daphne.unfeasible@gmail.com with your mailing address and your choice of a book by one of my authors.
But let’s not make this all about me, and my thoughts. What did you guys think? Did you like the exercise? Did you enjoy reading each other’s pieces? Which ones were your favorites?
And finally, a shout out to Alyson Noel, whose eagerly anticipated novel Blue Moon, the sequel to her #1 New York Times bestseller Evermore, is in stores today!

Congrats to ChristaCarol!
I really had fun writing for the challenge, and after reading most of the entries I have to say that Robyn Drizzle's was one of my favorites. I was on the edge of my chair wanting to know what happened and why the MC had to burn the house down and what happens to her.
I'm honored, thank you! (and thanks for the 'grats Rebecca!) I, too, enjoyed this. It was nice to get a break from writing the norm, and just write something random.
I enjoyed Robyn Drizzle's great descriptions, the writing was easy to visualize. And Karen's (rosepddle)for her engaging voice, I loved Eric and the entire scene sent me back 15–ahem–a few years. 😉 Ana's was sweet. It captured that nostalgic part of me as well. I really think everyone did well, and just partaking in it takes effort.
Christa's was my favourite too. Congratulations.
Yes, keep these kind of things coming, Kate! They're so much fun. 🙂
Congratulations ChristaCarol!
This was such a fun contest, and it changed my mind about writing prompts. Such a good exercise. Susan Sandmore's story was so heartwarming, and Robyn Drizzle's was haunting and I wanted to turn the page and keep reading. And of course ChristaCarol, I definitely wanted to read more, find out just how wicked Levi was!
This was fun, and I received a nice comment from a blog reader I'd never met before.
