I’m thrilled today to celebrate the publication of S. Terrell French‘s debut middle grade novel, Operation Redwood! The Shelf Elf has a lovely review up already, as well as an interview.
The book centers around one young boy’s attempts, with his friends, to save a redwood grove from development. Development spearheaded by his own uncle. This environmental theme made it a natural fit for printing on partially-recycled paper, and for an Earth Day publication.
If you do nothing else to celebrate this day, why not pick up a copy? Or check out the Operation Redwood website to read more about real-life efforts to save the redwoods, and what you can do in your own community!
Unless you have other plans for Earth Day, in which case, what are they? Share them in the comments!

That cover is just so cool. It's very Potter meets the bridge to Terabithia. 🙂
What a great premise, and a perfect time for it to be released, too, not only for Earth Day but because sometimes the environment really suffers when the economy's down. It reminds me a bit of Hiaasen's books, actually. He's written several MG/YA (can't remember which) novels with environmental themes.
