Eek! The time is just running away from me. How did it get to be 4pm, and me without a post for the day? To be fair, there were some technical difficulties at the home office this morning — strange internet outages and ridonkulous slowness — but that was this morning! What ELSE have I been doing?
Well, reading submissions, of course. I had an author whose partial I requested let me know she had an offer in hand, so I had promised to get back to her today. Which I did. Phew! But there’s lots more to read — and without a convenient internet outage again, I’m looking at some late nights and long weekedns to try to get back to people before the end of the year as promised. And then there’s the pile of kt literary holiday cards to get ready to go — labels printed, stuck on envelopes, cards signed and personalized, envelopes stamped with postal tender and holiday sentiments. Still working on this one.
Then there was the run to the library for books to read over the holidays (for fun! what a concept!) and audiobooks for the 11-hour car trip (each direction) I have to look forward to. I got Monday through Saturday in Garth Nix’s “Keys to the Kingdom” series — all unabridged on CD, so we’ll have lots to listen to, and I can get caught up on a series I’m really enjoying.
And that’s just some of the stuff I’m working on. No wonder I’m so late! What’s YOUR excuse?

What? I need an excuse? I thought being a creative type automatically granted me clemency on such matters.
Hang on, I think I hear my mom calling. Gotta go!
Hmmm….not very writerly, but, it's 8 o'clock and I'm just now eating dinner. My excuse was a late afternoon visit to the dentist. One cannot eat with a novocaine lip out to —>here!
My excuse was that I was reading. Obviously! What else would I be doing? I'm a writer, so I was doing "research" by reading a comparable novel to mine. haha!
I have enjoyed that Garth Nix series so far and am looking forward to the last installment. There are so many creative elements in it. How much of it have you already read?
