Oh my god, guys, it’s December already! How did that happen??? I spent the long, lovely holiday weekend getting caught up on some tv, reading Jennifer Weiner’s Certain Girls, playing video games, and sleeping. Good times, all. Rexroth kept me company most of the time, although his choice for reading was Let The Right One In, which has been praised the length and breadth of the internet — both the book and the movie.
And now, it’s December. I’ve got two more submissions to get out and hope for responses from editors before the end of the year, not to mention other outstanding submissions to follow up on. I’ve also got to get to work on my business holiday cards, and some crafty goodness for friends, clients, and family. And I’ve got links to share! Like these newspaper articles recommending Let It Snow and Maureen Johnson. And this feature on Ellen Booraem from Cynthia Leitich Smith’s blog. And Trish Doller‘s advice for local authors on approaching a local bookstore.
What are your plans for the month ahead? Will you be revising your NaNoWriMo novel? Starting something new? Letting your current WiP rest in a drawer while you concentrate on holiday stuff? Fill me in!

I'm *almost* ready to start sending out my novel (or rather, queries, partials, etc.) that I finished last June. I've been polishing and polishing and polishing and I think I've got most of the suck off. Just a little bit more to go–I'm so close that every moment I'm not looking at it is agonizing. I can't wait to get home from work.
(Say, is there a way to get an RSS feed on comments to specific blog posts, or to have replies automagically e-mailed to me? I try to check back and see if anybody replies to things I post here, but I tend to forget. This is the only blog I follow where I can't find a passive way to keep track of the conversation.)
@Joe
*laughs* Love the "polishing the suck off" comment!
@Kate
Finished my NaNoWriMo, but I'm still a sophomore at this whole "novelist" thing, so I'm taking a week pause to wrap my head around what I learned about myself and the way I write before I dig into the editing process.
And there will be much editing – both of the polishing and the heavy-handed cropping variety.
I'm in the slash the heck out of it stage right now. I hoping to whack it down to it's essence, until it screams for mercy and is left with nothing but the real story…
Testing.
and again…
I need to finish the end of my NaNo (got to 50K, but there's still more story!) I so love these characters, I have to find out what happens! When it's done, I'll let it sit as long as I can stand to – and then start the rewriting.
While it's sitting – I'll do all the holiday stuff. :^D
Still revising my novel and hope to be done by the end of year. Figuring out some plotting problems in the middle, but it's getting untangled. Now, if only I can clear my schedule…
For one thing, I'm catching up on blogs. NaNo plus three deadlines meant I didn't check into my Reader for a week or so.
And, yes, I'm continuing with the NaNo novel. Still loving it.
Isn't it wild when you have like 300 items in your feed reader? 😀
