Wow. I didn’t think this needed to be said, but my submission guidelines do NOT recommend that you forgo a query letter and just send me the first three pages of your manuscript. I’ve updated the page to make this even more clear, but… wow. I’m just a little surprised. Would you send a resume to apply for a job without a cover letter?

Back at official kt literary headquarters, following up on all my NYC meetings and responding to those authors who’ve sent me partials in recent history. Wow! I can't believe all the crazy things you get in submissions. Apparently, even the obvious needs to be stated.
Now I'm tempted to hand-write a query on a napkin (maybe even complete with a lipstick kiss) and send it to you. I'm always entertained seeing what people decide to send ; )
