A few days ago (ok, it was longer than that, but I’m being generous with myself), I asked for a little help from my readers, in the form of your office/work spaces. I was looking for inspiration for the idea of possibly moving my own home office. And, well, it looks like my home office isn’t going anywhere soon (yay!), but I still loved seeing where you guys get your writing done. As promised, the owner of the most swoon-worthy office wins a fresh-off-the-presses copy of Sara Beitia’s debut novel The Last Good Place of Lily Odilon, out in October from Flux.

So, with thanks to all of you who contributed pictures, the winner is….

Ashley! Ashley, please email me at contests@ktliterary.com with your mailing address, and I’ll get your book in the mail to you ASAP. If you guys want a peak at Ashley’s cool space, check out her blog.

Special thanks to kt literary client Erin Danehy for contributing pics of her inspiring work space, which adds a little vertigo to the writing process.

And since turnabout is always fair play, here’s my work space.

If you missed your chance to submit pics of your work space for a prize, you can still share links in the comments, and we can swoon just for swooning’s sake. Cheers!

This whole house-hunting/renovation decision is beginning to wear me out. So help me cheer up, please! Show me where you work, and help inspire me to think about possibly decorating a new office space for kt literary.

I was going to offer a copy of Sara Beitia’s debut novel The Last Good Place of Lily Odilon as a prize for sharing pics of your work space, but I don’t think I ever even announced the winner of the last contest I ran! So, first, the winner of a galley of Ellen Booraem’s Small Persons with Wings is…

Karen! Karen, send me an email at contests@ktliterary.com with your mailing address, and I’ll send Ellen’s galley off to you!

And with that done — no random numbers here! The most swoon-worthy work space will win a hot-off-the-presses copy of The Last Good Place of Lily Odilon as soon as they come in! You have all week to enter, so get to posting!

Still working out of the office today, although I think I lost the monkeys on my tail through a series of random turns around the Cherry Creek section of Denver on my way to a lunch meeting. I've now got myself a nice little nook in my local library, with a reserved room for most of the afternoon so I can actually make the phone calls I need to make without disturbing other library patrons.

I’ve now got myself a nice little nook in my local library, with a reserved room for most of the afternoon so I can actually make the phone calls I need to make without disturbing other library patrons. Sure, I give up the ease of a convenient beverage dispenser by making tracks from this morning’s coffee shop, but the library has a lot to recommend it.
I feel like I may have asked this before, but I’m curious again — where’s your favorite “out of office” place to go and work?

Many writers have barely enough room in their lives and homes for a writing nook, let alone a whole office, but if you could have a room of one's own, a la Virginia Woolf, what would it look like?

We’re in a little bit of flux right now at Unfeasible Enterprises, with one home space empty and zen-like, and another waiting for the arrival of dozens of boxes to become a warm and cozy home (office). Which got me thinking about offices and writing spaces. I’ve seen writer’s rooms stuffed to the gills with books and art and inspiration, chock full of lovely distraction. And I’ve seen clean palates with bare walls and simple desks holding only a computer. Many writers have barely enough room in their lives and homes for a writing nook, let alone a whole office, but if you could have a room of one’s own, a la Virginia Woolf, what would it look like? And if you do have your own Writer’s Zone, will you share a picture? Here’s mine (at least at the moment).
