So that good news?

The exciting stuff I mentioned yesterday? Maureen Johnson's GIRL AT SEA is one of four finalists for the RWA RITA Awards in the category of young adult fiction.

Woot! Hooray! *does cartwheels*

Ask Daphne! A whole interview

Jocelyn over at Teen Book Review contacted me the other day, shortly after I read her interview with Andrew Karre (editor for our own kt literary client Josie Bloss), and asked if I'd be willing to answer a few questions, and help her readers better understand the world of the literary agent. Mais Oui! That's what we do around here! Check out the full interview on her site, and let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

MJ news and excitement

Lots of exciting things happening in Maureen Johnson's corner of the world, as she preps for SUITE SCARLETT's release, and masterminds a devious campaign to Free Alan Rickman. Check out her soon-to-be-fantastically-redesigned blog for more information on how you can become a member of Scarlett's Eleven.

That's not enough news for you? Well, then, I'm delighted to share that GIRL AT SEA, Maureen Johnson's previous book, was just named to the New York Public Library's "Books for the Teen Age" list for 2008. Unfortunately, the NYPL teenlink website's not updated yet with the full list, but do be sure to check back later, because this is a fantastic reading list for the very best in teen fiction, or adult fiction that teens will love.

High School Confidential

kt literary client Daniel J. Blau is justifiably proud of his work on the new WE series High School Confidential, which premiered on Monday night. New episodes air every week at 10pm Eastern, with repeats throughout the week. I've already set my DVR for the whole series -- think of it as unmissable research for the fantastic YA novels you're writing. More than a reality show, the series is earning praise from reviews as disparate as Gawker and The New York Times. What other tv shows or movies have you considered research for your teen novels?

Trashionista loves Scarlett

Another early review for Maureen Johnson's SUITE SCARLETT, this time from Trashionista, who writes

I absolutely loved Suite Scarlett. The characters are so real, charming and funny. The setting (of course) is wonderful and evocative. I didn't want it to end, but I couldn't stop reading it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Keep an eye on Maureen's blog, where she'll shortly be announcing a fabulous contest being run by her publisher. Stay tuned!

You can send money, or even better -- books! Send new books via Amazon, via a local independent bookstore, or from those overflowing piles you have sitting around the house. All the info is on the website. And if that's not enough for you, there's fabulous (and fuglicious) prizes to be won. Go. Now. Donate. Dewey will thank you.
