Thank you for your advice, Oh Wise One! I pretty much had come to the conclusion that I wouldn't place my current novel with her but I may submit a novella to her. I have to hold tight to my dream and I think she will understand that. Thanks, everyone, for your advice!

I've actually had positive experiences going into business with friends - as a psychologist though, not as a writer. However, I wouldn't do it for a different reason. I've spent a lot of time learning about the ever-evolving world of publishing and believe in my current project so I want to give it the best possible chance - which means querying agents that are a good fit for my work. E-publishing, aside from my blogs, isn't part of my long-term vision so I think you have to keep your overall goals in mind. Good luck!

Don't do business with friends. Seriously don't do it!

I've gone through almost the same scenario except it is with a short story anthology. Naturally there were problems that cropped up during the publishing process and unfortunately the friendship suffered because of it. Both sides-the publisher and the writers (including me)were very passionate about the book, which led to hurt feelings when there were problems.

This was only a short story. I cannot imagine if it was my baby, my novel.

Please follow the Daphster's very wise advice and try traditional routes first.
