More good news to share this week — Ellen Booraem‘s The Unnameables wins an Honorable Mention in the Children’s/Young Adult category for the Maine Literary Awards.
I did a little happy dance this weekend*, when I opened a box to find brand-spankin’-new copies of S. Terrell French‘s debut Operation Redwood. Now, this won’t be available to buy until next month — on Earth Day, appropriately — but you can check out this great review of it from California children’s book expert Richie Partington here.
Prize-worthy shoes for Fabulous librarian Erika, who writes, “I am the Young Adult Librarian at a public library in Illinois. As we start to prepare for our summer reading program (we like to get the grunt work out of the way as early as possible), I’m trying to find prizes that would actually make high school students want to participate, which is like beating my head against the wall.”
Really eye-catching shoes, but how do you walk in them? for Pablo, who wants to know, “What does it mean when an agent rejects a manuscript and says, ‘I didn’t make a strong enough connection with the manuscript to offer representation.’”
Wondering what I’ve been up to today? I’ve been participating in the brainchild of Colleen Lindsay, an agent with FinePrint Literary management, aka Queryfail day on Twitter.
