It's been a busy few days around kt literary headquarters, and I have loads of news and links to share with you. So let's get to it!
- Seventeen's Summer Book Club is featuring Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
- Teen and tween librarian Green Bean Teen Queen reviewed Alyson Noel's Cruel Summer
- The Bermudez Triangle by MJ is available as an audio download from Audible. Hear the book that was banned in Oklahoma!
- On July 13th in Hollywood, Alyson Noel will be participating in the first ever Rock n' Read Festival. More details on the website or on Alyson's blog.
- On a sad note, Tasha Tudor passed away on Wednesday. I loved her illustrations of The Secret Garden.
- The famed and fabulous dancer Cyd Charisse also passed away last week. If you're not a musical geek like me, you may know the name as the movie star the main character of Rachel Cohn's Gingerbread is named for. (Not a kt literary client, but still an awesome book.)
I loved the book "Gingerbread". If you have a 'tough' teen who is a reluctant reader...they will love it! The book starts out rocking and just runs and runs until, breathless, you've reached the end. (I wish I could write like that!) I can't count the number of times I pushed that book on teens when I was a librarian. Yep, I was a book pusher! I didn't know the history of the real Cyd Charisse though. Cool--you learn something new every day!

I remember Cyd Charisse - a fabulous dancer! A very class act.
And, Tasha Tudor's Secret Garden illustrations are my favorite!
Cruel Summer is creeping up my reading list - very soon I'll be to it!
Oh, how sad. I didn't hear about Tasha. One of my very favorite books is Tasha Tudor's Garden, where you actually SEE the inspiration for her artwork. I admire her for living her life on her own terms, her own way.
But I did hear about Cyd Charisse. I confess I don't know much about musicals, but I DID think of Gingerbread (can't help it, I'm totally in love with Shrimp).
